Batesville Optimist Essay Contest 


All essays and completed entry forms must be received no later than February 13th, 2018.   ALLOW for MAILING!

Local winners will be recognized at a special meeting on February 22, 2018 at China King in Batesville.  Local winners will receive a cash prize.  The cash prizes, sponsored by Batesville Physical Therapy, are first place, $100; second place, $50; and third place, $25. The local first-place winning essay will be advanced to the state level to compete for a $2500 scholarship. 

The topic for this year’s essay is “Can Society Function Without Respect?” It is important to follow the rules to eliminate lost points or disqualification.

National School Plant Management

Any graduating high school senior, college freshman, sophomore, or junior is eligible to apply for a scholarship. The individual scholarships range from $500 to $1,500 depending on candidate interest, evaluation results, and upon recommendation from the Scholarship Committee.   Deadline:  February 15, 2018.   For Application or more information:  Click Here     



Arkansas Association of Conservation Districts
Conservation Scholarship 

Dave Ferguson Scholarship Contest

 This contest will give a young person in Independence County the opportunity to win up to $500 towards college expenses when they choose a conservation-related course of study at an accredited Arkansas college or university. The winner will also be eligible to compete for scholarship funds at the area and state level contests.

The Arkansas Eastman Scholarship Trust is established to encourage and assist Independence County area students pursuing a math or science related career.  Each year, a limited number of scholarships, not to exceed $2000, are awarded to graduating high school seniors or students currently attending a college or university.  Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of demonstrated academic performance, career goals, and school and community citizenship and activities.

Please complete the application and return it to Future Fuels Chemical Company, Attn:  Scholarship Committee by March 9.  ALLOW TIME FOR MAILING!!!    Scholarship recipients will be announced by early May.

The American Legion  Coudret  Trust  and Garner Trust  Scholarships

(Up to $2,500)  Deadline:  Must be RECEIVED by March 12, 2018

Must be a child, grandchild, or great-grandchild of an American Legionnaire

AG Farm Credit Logo

Ten $500 scholarships are offered through the AgHeritage FCS Customer Scholarship Program. This program is available to dependent children and grandchildren of AgHeritage Farm Credit Services stockholder customers. 

AgHeritage Farm Credit Services also offers a $1000 scholarship to a current college student studying agriculture at an Arkansas university or college. You do not need to be a customer of AgHeritage FCS to apply for this scholarship.

Lucy Jean Mofield Memorial Scholarship

$1000, for a Midland High School Senior who will pursue post-secondary education.

Arkansas Trucking Association announces a new scholarship for Arkansas technician students LITTLE ROCK, ARK. - Arkansas Trucking Association is pleased to announce it is accepting applications for a new scholarship opportunity for students interested in pursuing a career as a medium and heavy duty truck technician. ATA has established the Carl Tapp Memorial Scholarship Fund to encourage growth in the state’s technician workforce and to help assure that the safest, most knowledgeable and skilled technicians are working on the trucks and trailers on our nation’s roads. Applicants must be graduating seniors from accredited high schools. Two scholarships for up to $7,500 will be awarded for students attending a two-semester (30-hour minimum) medium and heavy-duty truck technician program at an Arkansas institution.

Arkansas School Plant Management Association Scholarship Program 


The Arkansas School Plant Management Association (ASPMA) seeks to promote continued education by offering scholarships to deserving students in recognition of their leadership, scholastic achievement and civic participation. Any graduating high school senior planning to attend a College/University, Vocational-Technical or Trade School is eligible to apply.


ASPMA awards up to approximately $10,000 annually in increments ranging from $1000 to $5000 based on the Scholarship Committee’s evaluation of selection criteria. Scholarships are eligible for renewal when funds are available.

Heather Wilf Memorial Scholarship Application


Eligibility for the Heather Wilf Memorial Scholarship will be exclusive to a Midland High School graduating senior meeting the following criteria:

  1. Be an agriculture completer through the Midland Ag Program
  2. Attend Arkansas State University (ASU), the University of Arkansas (UA) or Southern Arkansas University (SAU) as your post-secondary school.  The community colleges included in these University systems also qualify.
  3. Graduate high school with a minimum 2.0 GPA on a 4 point grading scale.

Glynn Sharp Scholarship

The Glynn Sharp Scholarship will award a scholarship for $250 to a Midland High School graduating senior who goes on to higher education.  A personal interview may be required as part of the application process.  Deadline:  Check back later in counselor’s office.

Going to UCA?  There are numerous UCA scholarships available!  You must have been accepted to UCA and have a “B” number (found on your admissions letter) to apply.
