The AXA Achievement Scholarship

The AXA Achievement Scholarship provides over $1.4 million in scholarships to young people throughout the nation representing all 50 states, Washington DC and Puerto Rico. Students have the opportunity to receive a $2,500, $10,000 or $25,000 scholarship. In addition, for every student who wins a scholarship, a grant in the amount of $1,000 will be made to the winner's school.    Deadline: December 15, 2017

ACT Student Champion 

The ACT College and Career Readiness Student Champion is tenacious and persistent, no matter the challenge, and is prepared for life after high school with a goal in mind and a plan in place.

  • A student who has overcome challenges and can articulate education and career actions
  • Students must have a composite ACT score of a 22 on a single test date or a 3.0 or greater on a 4.0 scale
  • Preference will be given to underrepresented or first-generation college students.

Students will fill out their own applications.
*Applicants must be members of the graduating class of 2018 who have taken the ACT.

National Wild Turkey Federation

Are you a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation?  If so, you may qualify for local and national scholarships ranging from $500-10,000!

The Earl Collins Foundation Scholarship

The 2017 – 2018 scholarship is $1000.00.  The Earl Collins Foundation of Missouri-Arkansas district will award 26 scholarships this year.  Key Club membership is NOT required.

Arkansas Association of Conservation Districts
Conservation Scholarship 

Dave Ferguson Scholarship Contest

 This contest will give a young person in Independence County the opportunity to win up to $500 towards college expenses when they choose a conservation-related course of study at an accredited Arkansas college or university. The winner will also be eligible to compete for scholarship funds at the area and state level contests.

Heather Wilf Memorial Scholarship Application

$1000

Eligibility for the Heather Wilf Memorial Scholarship will be exclusive to a Midland High School graduating senior meeting the following criteria:

  1. Be an agriculture completer through the Midland Ag Program
  2. Attend Arkansas State University (ASU), the University of Arkansas (UA) or Southern Arkansas University (SAU) as your post-secondary school.  The community colleges included in these University systems also qualify.
  3. Graduate high school with a minimum 2.0 GPA on a 4 point grading scale.

Glynn Sharp Scholarship

The Glynn Sharp Scholarship will award a scholarship for $250 to a Midland High School graduating senior who goes on to higher education.  A personal interview may be required as part of the application process.  Deadline:  Check back later in counselor’s office.

Pleasant Plains Exxon Scholarship 

$500

For any Midland High School Senior who plans to major in a science or mathmatics field (examples include teaching, nursing, engineering, etc.).  This is a SECOND semester scholarship.

In order to apply for this scholarship, prepare a resume with the following categories:  

  • Clubs/Activities/Awards/Offices Held - descriptions with dates
  • Academic Plans and Career Goals - write a paragraph that describes your academic plans and goals
  • Community Volunteer Services - descriptions of volunteer works performed with dates
  • Official Transcript - attached to the back of the resume

Turn in your resume with transcript to the Counselor or the High School office no later than 3:00 p.m. on May 5, 2017.
